Feeling like a “house guest” at the Hotel Palacio Ca Sa Galesa, more than a 5-star hotel in Mallorca

Review by Kelly Ella Maz

In the heart of Mallorca’s capital city of Palma, stands an incredible 5 star hotel. The building was constructed during the 16th century, and was the residence of a very prosperous family before it was converted into a hotel. What makes this hotel unique is that they’ve managed to keep the original design and “feeling” of this beautiful sea-side mansion. As you walk from room to room you feel more like a “house guest” than a “hotel guest”.

From the moment you enter you get a feeling of calm and relaxation. The property is incredibly tranquil, most likely due to the fact that there are only 12 suites. The shared common areas of this hotel could easily accommodate the guests of 30 rooms or more.

During the days I visited Palacio Ca Sa Galesa the hotel was at full capacity, yet I hardly saw other hotel guests during my stay. I felt as if I was the only one in this beautiful mansion, and that feeling of calm lasted my entire visit.

Each of the hotel’s suites vary in size and decor, but they are all keeping with the design of the house. Suites come with luxurious bathrobes and slippers, which are perfect to cozy up in after soaking in your hydrotherapy jacuzzi tub. Rooms also come with “Bath Butler Menu”, in which you can chose what type of bath you’d like and hotel staff will arrange it for you. The suite I stayed in had an antique writing desk perfect for working at, and a chaise lounge where I enjoyed my morning tea. The separate living room in my suite included a small dinning table and a pull-out sofa. This room was spacious and inviting, perfect for my relaxing getaway.

If you’re coming to Palacio Ca Sa Galesa to rejuvenate and pamper yourself then you will undoubtably be visiting the spa of this luxury hotel in Palma. Located in the hotel's basement you’ll find a room that looks like an enchanting cave! The highlight of this room is the revitalizing pool. Soft lighting changes the colour of the pool, which makes the room look even more dramatic. The spa also has a Finnish sauna, a steam room and three different showers. Best of all, this spa can be reserved in order to guarantee you are the only one using it.

When it’s time to eat you have unlimited options, due to the fact that the hotel will order anything you’d like from nearby restaurants and serve it to you in the room of your choice. The formal dinning room is absolutely stunning, and my first choice as a dining location. As with the spa, this dining room can be reserved to ensure you have the privacy you desire. If you’d rather not leave the comfort of your suite you can also arrange to have your meal served to you in your room.

The location of the hotel, in the Old Town, is known for its tranquility and beauty. Likewise, a few minutes walk you will find a wide network of narrow streets and alleys plenty of beautiful antique houses and small shops, restaurants and boutiques.

A visit to Palacio Ca Sa Galesa, definitely one of the top hotels in Palma de Mallorca, is a way to refresh your mind, body and soul. Book your room today and prepare to be pampered by the wonderful staff, and enjoy the luxurious surroundings this hotel has to offer. A relaxing city escape is exactly what you deserve.
