Festivity of San Sebastian in Palma

Since the 17th century, the city of Palma celebrates the festivity of San Sebastian around January 20th. This year activities begin on the 17th with a parade and the reading of the opening of celebrations.

The most popular event is the festival of San Sebastián, held on January 19th with bonfires and music performances in different squares in the center of Palma.

On January 20th, the day of San Sebastian, in the morning the solemn Mass of St. Sebastian is celebrated at the Cathedral. The Cycling National Day takes place at noon and at night the ceremony of the "Ciutat de Palma" is performed.

The festival program includes many activities, such as music and "Atiarfoc" firework shows, concerts and theater, exhibitions, a photographic marathon and the traditional procession of "Beneïdes de Sant Antoni".

The “Correfoc” is one of the most spectacular events. All those who never have seen this performance, should know that it is a parade of 'Dimonis' (demons) in which hundreds of fireworks are launched. The public takes part of the party dancing with “Dimonis” and enjoying the fireworks. This act is the end to the Festivity of San Sebastian.

And let’s not forget the traditional food cooked on the streets during these days. The Majorcan take their stoves outside to cook the authentic spicy sobrasada (special sausage). You shouldn’t miss out on this experience, therefore in Palacio Ca Sa Galesa we will provide you with the little tray to cook your own sobrasada !

Why not do something different and enjoy San Sebastian in Palacio Ca Sa Galesa!
